We live in an age of remixes, refixes, reworks, and mashups that all but obliterates conventional notions regarding sampling, interpolation, cover songs, and collaborations.
That being the case, I’m not exactly sure what to call what Atlanta’s Stori Brooks did with Thundercat’s “Lone Wolf and Cub” in this all-to-brief video she was kind enough to send my way earlier today.
She calls it an “homage”, which I’m fine with.
I just call it dope.
