A late but strong entry for “Song of the Summer” comes from 22-year-old Londoner Ben Garrett a.k.a. Fryars and his tune “Cool Like Me”.

The song is a slick slice of classic British synthpop whose lyrics are imbued with a modern sense of cool and coated with some spacey processing.

While the video depicts a pair of Mormon-like “missionaries of cool” who pay a proselytizing visit to a Watts housing project.

To paraphrase Vinz “The Keymaster” Clortho, they showed them what it meant to be roasted in the depths of the cool that day I can tell you.
